1. You may want
to create new place types, or alter existing place types for your
project.
**NOTE: When you change an existing
place type, your change will affect ALL scenarios in the project. In
most instances, you may just want to create a new place type.**
Click "Project
Place Types Manager" to see a list of place types for the project |

2. A list of available
place types will be listed.
Click "Add
New Place Type" if you'd like to add a new place type to the
project. |

3. To create a
new place type, you will need to fill in the following fields

1. PLACE TYPE NAME
2. PERCENT OF PLACE TYPE BY SECTOR
3. DEFAULT MARK PLACE TYPE %
4. AVERAGE SQFT PER BUILDING - SQUARE FOOTAGE BY SECTOR
5. PARKING RATIOS PER 1000 SQ FT OR DWELLING UNIT
6. PARKING TYPES DISTRIBUTION (# OF LEVELS)
7. MISCELLANEOUS SETTINGS |
Click "Save
Changes" when you are done. |

4. If you need
to edit a place type, simply click on the place type name to be taken
to an edit screen. Make all the necessary changes and click "Save
Changes" when you are done. |

5. Clicking on "Place Type Marking Rules" on the Place Types Manager page will take you to this page.
Mark the appropriate boxes next to each place type and click "Save Changes" when you are done. The following columns are available:

1. Hide on Place Type Dropdown - These place types will not show up in the "Mark Place Type" drop-down on the map and can therefore not be marked on the map.
2. Cannot Overwrite on Map - These places types cannot be overwritten / marked-over on the map. If you mark a large section of parcels on the map,
only parcels that are not marked with place types that "Cannot be Changed" will be changed.
3. Hide on Legend - These place types will not show up on the Place Type Legend (available on the map).
4. Developed - These place types are considered "developed". Some place types such as Agriculture are not considered "developed". This is currently only used in the Places Energy module (in beta).

6. This page must be filled out in order to use the Energy Places Model (currently in development). For each Place Type,
enter the percent of each sector. For example, you would enter 100% in the "Hotel" column for the a Place Type of "Hotel". Or for
a mixed use Place Type, you might enter 50% in the "Residential > 3 Stories" column, 25% in the "Commercial - Food/Liquor" column
and 25% in the "Commercial - Office" column.
